Creative movie

Why?

The energizer aims at provoking the students to think outside the box. This is very purposeful for the divergent phase, as the most innovative ideas lay outside of the brain’s regular patterns of thinking.

How?

The teacher selects a movie clip and plays it for the class. Now, the students are challenged to put this movie clip into a completely different context. For instance, the teacher plays a movie clip from a scary movie and asks the students to make it the trailer of a romantic comedy. During this activity, the students develop a script for their trailer that they present for the class when time runs out.

Tips

The teacher asks the students to perform their trailer as a role-play for the class (see The Role-play).
